Seven Pittsburgh-area schools have made Newsweek magazine's list of America's Top Public High Schools.
Six of the schools included on the list of 1,500 reside in Allegheny County.
Mt. Lebanon (1,181), North Allegheny (1,325), North Hills (1,317), Pine-Richland (814), Quaker Valley (1,338) and Upper St. Clair (917) all made the cut.
It marked the first year North Hills cracked the list.
Blackhawk High School (Beaver Falls, Beaver County) was ranked No. 1,144.
Newsweek said the school rankings were determined based on a Challenge Index, which divides the total number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken each year by the number of graduating seniors.
