The parents of a Central Catholic High School football player who died after sustaining massive head injuries in October 2008 are now suing two Pittsburgh hospitals.

Kyle Wilson, 17, played running back for the Vikings. He collapsed while watching the Gateway-McKeesport game in Monroeville one day after he was injured at a team practice.
Wilson was treated and released from West Penn Hospital-Forbes Regional Campus after his collapse, but he was taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh when he became ill again the next day. He died at Children's several days later.
WTAE Channel 4's news exchange partners at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported that the Wilsons' lawsuit was filed in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday.
The Trib reported that the suit claims Children's Hospital and West Penn Allegheny Health System doctors failed to recognize and treat Kyle Wilson's head injuries, despite symptoms that included repeated vomiting and decreased consciousness.
Children's and West Penn have not commented on the lawsuit.
The Vikings honored Wilson in a WPIAL playoff game against Penn-Trafford three days after his death. His picture was displayed on the scoreboard monitor in a pre-kickoff moment of silence, and Wilson's father took the field with his son's teammates.
Two players held Wilson's No. 23 jersey high that night while students and parents cheered. The Central Catholic Varsity Lettermen's Club also passed out 500 shirts with Wilson's name and number on them.
