Jones Commits Early After Completing Junior Season

report notes | more reports

Sto-Rox junior quarterback and former Clearview Federal Credit Union Student Athlete of the Week Paul Jones was being heavily recruited by Penn State during the football season. This past weekend, they got more than what they bargained for.

Not only has Jones committed to play at Penn State in 2010, he also has grown two inches between visits to the University Park campus. He made his verbal commitment to head coach Joe Paterno and defensive coordinator Tom Bradley during a visit this past weekend.

During the season, Jones was listed as 6-foot-3, 218 pounds, but says he is now 6-5, 225. A bigger frame should help him improve on his junior season, in which he led Sto-Rox to the WPIAL Class AA playoffs.

A two-year starter, he led the WPIAL with 20 touchdown passes as a sophomore. For his career, he has completed 225 of 394 passes for 3,824 yards and 41 touchdowns.
