Pitt sophomore forward DeJuan Blair, a 2007 graduate of Schenley, was named to the Associated Press All-American first team Monday. He joins former Pitt Panther Don Hennon as the only players in school history ever to receive first-team honors.

Blair (6'7", 265), who grew up in the Hill District near the Pitt campus, averaged 15.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game this season for the Panthers, and also led the team in field goal percentage, blocked shots, and steals. He was named Big East Co-Player of the Year, sharing the honor with Connecticut's Hasheem Thabeet.

Blair was a four-year letterman at Schenley, scoring 1,563 points and finishing his career with a 103-16 record, including 57 consecutive City League wins, three consecutive City League championships, and the 2007 PIAA Class AAAA title. He was also a three-time City League Player of the Year.

Hennon, like Blair, shares hometown ties as the Wampum High School graduate is one of only 25 players in WPIAL history to score 2,000 points in his career (2,376). He played three seasons at Pitt and is Pitt's third all-time leading scorer.

Hennon received first team All-American honors in 1958, and then second team honors in 1959. He holds the Pitt record of 50 career games with 20-plus points, all in an era that hadn't yet incorporated the three-point line.

Joining Blair on the All-American list are teammates Sam Young and Levance Fields. Young was named to the third team, while Fields received an honorable mention.
