I can remember the day we were told that the Schenley High school building would be closing, then hearing that after the 2010-2011 sophmores, there would be no more Schenley. I was devastated; I've always pictured myself visiting my old teachers and being in awe at how much has changed. Unfortunately, I can't physically visit Schenley but the memories will never disappear. In my most memorable experience, I can vividly recall going to the 2007-2008 State Championship game. The bus ride was so fun and we had enough snacks to cause each and every one of my fellow peers to get a cavity, maybe more. After the singing of the Nation Anthem we sat down and prepared for what was the most intriguing basketball game I've ever seen. The stadium was huge and the excitement was contagious. The crowd was ecstatic when the final buzzer rang and Schenley had won. I couldn't help but to get out of my seat and scream and cheer along with the audience. The next day the players happily wore the gold medal that was given to them for their hardwork and dedication, along with smiles from ear-to-ear.
One of the previous yearbook titles was "If these walls could talk". The stories they would tell...I can only imagine being that generations have attended this school. As I prepare for my last year of high school in the Reizenstein Building it's a bittersweet moment. Sometimes change isn't always a bad thing and as I look back at my 3 years at Schenley I can smile because I've grown in so many ways that will benefit me in the future. Schenley will forever be in my heart, may the Schenley spirit never die!
